The universe creates chemical reactions from composition and collision of elements.
Chemical reactions create magnetic field.
Magnetic fields stimulate senses/nerves.
Sensory/neural input waves into the brain.
The brain produces ideas.
And ideas become a major factor in human action.

Karu Shao
We are happy to announce that Karu Shao's solo exhibition ”Record: You are the Dust in the Universe“ will open at Xime Japanese at 3pm on Saturday 25 July.
For the opening, the artist has prepared 17 different tattoo stickers for each of the work that is on shown. Viewers will be able to get their favorite artwork as a temporary tattoo on their body.

Record : You are the Dust in the Universe
Karu Shao's artwork often breaks the traditional rules in art making. Her work explores the theme & relationship between one‘s subconscious and one’s own ability. In this solo exhibition , Karu Shao raised a hypothesis that “ things that you can not see or touch may be the key of exploring the universe”. Cosmic Dust, is dust which exists in outer space, or has fallen on Earth. We live in a sensory world measured by small units and we trust our senses without much doubt. Exploring the unknown space becomes a big challenge for us. In this series of work, the artist transforms ordinary landscape into unique individual images through collage. This series of works are shown in different order and media in every exhibition, presenting these altered scenery in a different spatially combination every single time. The work explores the unrealness of the real world. It also re-examine the process of “cognitive-thinking-recording”.
XIME hosts the solo exhibition of artist Karu Shao on from 26th July to 19 September. Karu Shao is a contemporary artist with multicultural background. Born in Shanghai, Karu spent most of her childhood growing up in Japan & Switzerland. She studied painting and dramatic art at the University of Miami.
Karu Shao's work has been exhibited worldwide in galleries & museums including Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, The National Art Center Tokyo, Times Art Museum Beijing, Shanghai Exhibition Center, Czong Institute for Contemporary Art Korea.
